Very few girls from the rural communities of the High Atlas Mountains get the opportunity of continuing their education beyond primary school. Secondary schools, mostly several kilometres away in larger towns, are not accessible to them because:

  1. Their parents cannot afford to pay for lodgings or transport near secondary schools
  2. Their parents do not have the confidence in existing facilities to entrust their daughters to be away from home.
  3. Half of the country is not literate, and in rural areas, up to 83% of women are illiterate. We believe investing in girls’ education is essential, as an educated girl educates her family and whole community. Watch this simple animation which explains more...

#YouGoatMe Mouvement

Thanks to your purchases, YouGoatMe supports projects for access to education for young girls in Morocco.

YouGoatMe partnered with the UK-based non-profit Education For All Morocco (EFA) which builds and runs high-quality boarding houses for girls from 12-18. Everything is provided for free (3 nutritious meals a day, hot showers, cosy beds, access to computers, study support via an international volunteer program and dedicated, local housemothers).

The overall environment makes it easy for the girls to settle in and thrive in their studies. Since they started 10 years ago, over 50 girls are enrolled in University and Fatima has just started her Master’s degree!

For each merchandise you buy at YouGoatMe, we donate $6 enough to cover expenses for 3 days for a girl.
